How We Build Readers

My approach is rooted in the "Science of Reading"—a vast body of research that tells us exactly how the human brain learns to decode text. But knowing the science is only half the battle; the other half is understanding the heart of a child.

01

Phonemic Awareness

Before a child can read words, they must hear the sounds within them. We use playful oral games to help children identify, isolate, and manipulate individual sounds.

02

Systematic Phonics

We teach the relationship between sounds and letters in a logical, step-by-step way. No guessing—just clear, actionable skills that empower children to decode any word.

03

Joy-Based Engagement

We use books and materials that excite your child. Whether it's dinosaurs, space, or fairy tales, we build literacy around what they already love.

Closing the Confidence Gap

Many children struggle with reading not because they lack the ability, but because they've developed a fear of making mistakes. This "Confidence Gap" can stall progress for years.

In our 1:1 sessions, I create a "brave space" where mistakes are celebrated as steps toward learning. By removing the pressure of a classroom setting, children feel free to take risks, try new sounds, and eventually, experience the thrill of mastery.

"Confidence is the engine of literacy. Once a child believes they *can* read, the rest is just practice."
